Abstract :
ABSTRACT: Movement, as the foundation of all physical activities, is divided into gross and fine motor skills. Daily activities involve both these motor skills. Gross motor skills constitute the major part of human movement. Performing these skills requires the large muscle groups. The purpose of this study A Comparison of the Gross and Fine Motor Skills of Athletes and Non-Athletes with Downʹs syndrome in 40 people with Down’s syndrome participated in the form of an athlete and a non-athlete group. Using convenience sampling, the participants were selected from the centers affiliated with Tehran and Alborz Welfare Organization with an age range of 24-33 and with moderate intellectual disability. for Instruments: the participants performed the subscales of Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency (BOTMP). BOTMP is a set of norm-referenced tests that assess ?ne and gross motor abilities. Show results there is a significant difference between the two groups in fine motor skills including the subtests of response speed, visual-motor control, speed, and upper-limb speed and dexterity. Data were analyzed using T tests (p < 0.05). The statistical analysis was done through SPSS.
