Abstract :
The purpose of this research was the investigation of Neocene Marl units in sub-watersheds of Taleghan watershed dominating Taleghan Dam Lake including Fashandak, Armout, Kashroud, Sangban, Nesa of down and Muchan sub watersheds. In order to prepare geomorphology unit map, the maps of slope and direction were prepared. Then, the map of erosive shape (with aerial photos 1:40000 related to 2001 year and also field visits) were provided and at last, by integration of three mentioned maps, the geomorphology unit map was obtained. During three samples of formation were obtained from work unit. Physical properties and chemical properties in 73 samples were determined. After physical and chemical analysis of samples and the determination of percentage destructives (clay% and silt%) and chemicals percentage (calcium carbonate, gypsum and salt) in each sample, on the basis of dominant chemicals and soil texture (silt% and clay%). Samples of Marlʹs formation on the basis of new method were separated. The first Marlʹs samples were separated to five classes. Then On the basis of dominant of percentage destructives (clay% and silt%) samples were separated to five classes. The geomorphology unites named on the basis of dominant class. The results showed that the marl units classified into 8 subunits including Ngmu Ngma, Ngs, Ngsc, Ngc, gy2ma, gy1mu and gy1ma. That mu, ma, s and sc are Mudstone, Marl, Siltstone and Silt clay stone respectively.
