Abstract :
A study was performed to assess the usefulness of various indices in identifying cultivars adapted to different water stress treatments. In order to evaluate seed yield, biological yield and harvest index of barley ,s cultivars in different treatments of drought stress, an experiment was conducted as a split plot arrangement based on randomized complete block design with 4 replications at experimental agriculture farm of Islamic Azad University, Khorasgan (Esfahan) branch, in Esfahan. Irrigation treatments as a main plot were arranged on the basis of evaporation from pan evaporation (including irrigation after 80, 100 and 120 mm evaporation from pan), and sub plots were included 4 cultivars (Fasih, Nosrat, Reihan 03 and Yosef). Approximately all of the indices indicated Yosef anf Reihan03 are the superior barley cultivars with the highest stress resistance and with appropriate and considerable yield potential under both normal irrigation and restricted irrigation. There were positive correlation of YP with SSI, and positive and significant correlation with STI, MP and GMP. The maximum seed yield in well irrigated condition was related to Reihan03. STI, MP and GMP were identified as the most desirable indices for screening drought tolerance cultivars
