Abstract :
In this article a simple model is developed for the study of the charge distribution as a result of induced electric po-tential to a typical single wall carbon nanotube material. By solving such a system of equations numerically, the important parameters such as the induced charge at each atom and total charge are investigated. Charge distribution for the open-ended armchair (5,5) type carbon nanotube is computed as a function of the axial position of the atoms for different nanotubes. The effect of the carbon nanotube length variation is considered for the charge study in this article. Charge on each atom for the given armchair type carbon nanotube in infinite space having 110 atoms (L = 1.2 nm), 820 atoms (L = 10 nm), 1630 atoms (L = 20 nm), 2450 atoms (L = 30 nm), and 3260 atoms (L = 40 nm) at the induced electric voltage of 3.5 V are computed by the given model and results are compared.
