Abstract
Herbal medicines include herbs, herbal materials, herbal preparations and finished
herbal products, used for medicinal purposes. Concerns about loss of biological diversity and the
availability of resources exist, for a large part, because most species of medicinal plants are
collected from the wild. Interest and support for the conservation and development of medicinal
plants is increasing in all parts of the world. Conservation of natural resources and the capability to
utilize them in sustained manner are essential for the well being and continued survival of man.
Several types of conservation measures have been applied to medicinal plants, among them ethnomedicinal
plant gardens, Gene banks, Cultivation and Nursery network are most important ways for
conservation of medicinal plants
