Abstract :
The emitted photons from injected radiopharmaceutical as passing through the body experience different interactions. One of the most important of those is scattering. The scattered photons carry misplaced positional information about the source distribution, resulting in lower image contrast and inaccurate quantization in SPECT images. Thus a correction for scatter will be essential to improve image contrast for better image quality and quantification. A number of scatter correction techniques have been proposed. Each of them is based its own assumptions and was proved valid only in some specific imaging conditions. The goal of this study is considering scatter correction methods based on setting two energy windows in different positions at energy spectrum of Tc-99m. These methods are dual energy window (DEW) and dual photo-peak window (DPW) methods.
