Abstract :
Abstract This study is about the relationship of principalʹs leadership style(task and relationship orientation) and the efficiency of PE teacherʹs in zanjan high schools in 2008-2009. The method of this research is descriptive– correlative. The statistical population of this research was all physical education teachers (123 People) and all of high school student(49059 People) in zanjan. The number of the samples were 95 physical education teachers among (48 male &47 female) also 950 sample students (480 boys and 470 girls). All of them were stratified–cluster selected .The instrument of this research are fiedllerʹs questionnaire of leadership style with the validity of 0.93 and the colleaguesʹ questionnaire through Cronbach Alpha with the validity of 0.94 and the teacherʹs efficiency questionnaire with the validity of 0.88 (Cronbach Alpha). After defining the validity and reliability which is done by members, the sample was completed, measured, evaluated and analyzed and the results were descriptively and perceptually expressed. More principalsʹ leadership style related the higher PE teacher efficiency (r=384, ?=0.001).There are no significant difference between the male and female principalʹs leadership style (r=0.790, ?=0.374) and no significant difference between the PE male and female teacherʹs efficiency (t=0.858, ?=0.394). Therefore because of the meaningful relationship between the principalʹs task and relation-orientated style and the efficiency of PE teacherʹs in this survey, it is suggested for the principals to use the relation-orientated style more than others and also regarding the meaningful relationship between the principalʹs view about sport and the efficiency of PE teachers in this survey, it is better for both education managers and schools headmasters to have a nice positive view about the schools PE matter.
