Abstract :
Iris is one of the native medicinal and ornamental plants of Iran, which must effort to maintenance and use in breeding programs. To determine the genetic variability and heritability of 18 Iris species collected from different regions of Iran. The three replicates were arranged in a randomized completely block design (RCBD). Result of analysis of variance showed between species for all traits studied were significant (?=0.01), indicating wide variation for all traits in the wild species. Results showed that the most genetical and phenotype variety coefficient was related to perianth tube length (70%), inner tepal width (74%) and plant height (67% and 69%) respectively. I. germanica (f1) had the higher characteristic than other species. The highest broad sense heritability was related to inner tepal width (98.95), outer tepal width (98.47), outer tepal with of claw (98.67) and inner tepal length (97.78). Characteristic of correlation coefficients in different species represented the most correlation (positive and significant) was relating to length and width of inner tepal and length of perianth tube and pistil width of bridge had the lowest correlation (negation and significant).
