Abstract :
Considering hyperlipidemia phenomenon significance as one of the most significance risk factors of cardiovascular disease, and a recent approach of using herbal plants to modify hyperlipidamiea , the present study was amied to investigate the effect of combined Carnitine and Dill extract complementation on serum lipids of Wistar rats. The factorial 2×2 experimental was designed basd on complate random plan with six repetition for the study. The rats wer distributed randomly and equally to each treatments. The experiment treatments were: group one or control group (rats fed with high fat diet), group two or extract group (rats fed with high fat diet and 250 mg/kgBw Carnitine) and group four or group of extract and Carnitine combination (rats fed with high fat diet, extract and Carnitine). The administration in all groups was based on gavage. Serum levels HDL, LDL, VLDL and triglyceride and total cholesterol were measured in all treatments through enzymatic method in 14 and 21 days of the study. Following data analysise, the obtained results revealed that hydroalcholic extract of Dill makes significant increase in LDL, VLDL and triglyceride (P < 0.05). However no effect was found on other variables. Unlike the expectations, hydroalcholic extract of Dill not only does not improve serum lipids profiles but also it increase triglyceride, VLDL, and LDL serums.
