Abstract :
This work was carried out to study the inhibition of corrosion of ordinary steel in cooling water system solution by a multi-component. The inhibitive formulation was composed of 2- (2-thio-dodecyl-5-methyl-1,3,4-triazol)yl acetic acid (TDMTAA) associated with molybdate ions. The obtained results lead that TDMTAA inhibits the corrosion of ordinary steel in the considered medium. The corresponding inhibition efficiency increases by increases by inhibitor concentration and also by adding of molybdate ions. The values of the synergism parameter (S0) indicate that the enhanced inhibition efficiency in the presence of molybdate ions is only due to synergism and there is a definite contribution from the inhibitor molecule, which are adsorbed by coulombic interaction on metallic surface, where molybdate ions are already adsorbed and thus reduce the corrosion rate. The inhibition efficiency of mixture increases by increasing of temperature, pH and immersion time and leads a maximum of 99%.
