Valorisation de la biomasse: synthese et obtention de derives furaniques a partir des dechets agricoles (Valorization of biomass: Synthesis and obtaining furan derivatives from agricultural waste)

The condensation of aldoses with the compounds 1, 3-diones or b-diketones in the presence of a catalyst in an alcoholic medium, produced furan polyols with hydroxylated chains. The first synthesis of this class of compounds was accomplished by Garcia Gonzalez in the presence of ZnCl2 like catalyst. The yields of the reaction are about 32%. In this work, with CaCl 2 as catalyst after the optimization of the reaction conditions, we obtained, starting from glucose, xylose and mannose a furan polyols with the yields superior to 90%. In the continuation of this work we exploited this reaction in the valorization of the vegetable matter through the transformation of hemicelluloses after hydrolysis into polyhydroxylated derivatives with furan cycles.
