CAUSES OF MENTAL RETARDATION IN HOSPITALIZED PAEDIATRIC PATIENTS

A total number of 245 patients were studied who were admitted in the paediatric unit of a teaching hospital a tertiary care center. Those patients were selected who showed mental handicap and developmental delay. The reason of mental retardation and other parameters related to it were determined. The study sheds some light on a common problem encountered by paediatricians. Its etiological aspect and other problems associated with it.
