Abstract :
Although the involvement of all the different members of an organization is considered imperative to reach environmental excellence, it is the role of workers that stands out. Regarding the environmental commitment of companies, different factors condition the involvement of the workers. The present research is aimed at detecting the attitude of the workers toward environmental matters, through a series of interviews conducted on labor risk prevention delegates from 400 companies. For that, we have analyzed, among other factors, the attitude and level of sensitivity toward environmental protection, the perception concerning the obstacles to and opportunities for the implementation of preventive measures, the negative impact of the business activity, training, as well as the participation of the workers in the environmental management system (EMS). This paper presents the quantitative findings of the research as well as our conclusions and recommendations.
