Evaluation of leaf proline amount index in five cultivars of sugar beet under drought stress in greenhouse

To study leaf proline amount in five cultivars of sugar beet under drought stress condition, the test was conducted in research greenhouse of Ardabil Islamic Azad University in 2012. Thus, the factorial experimental design based on randomized complete block was used with three replications. Factor A in two conditions (drought and normal) and factor B consists of five sugar beet cultivars. The results showed that there was significant difference between stress levels in terms of leaf proline at 1% level. The studied genotypes showed that significant difference were at 5% level. The results of mean comparison also showed that genotype 5 with a mean of 5.02 in terms of proline amino acid had the highest value and was in class ‘A’.
