Abstract :
ABSTRACT: Current study was carried out in 2011–2012 in the reserch farm of Islamic Azad University Shahr-e-Rey, Iran (35? 35’ N; 51? 28’ E) in accordance with a randomized complete block design with four replicates. Alfalfa and fennel were cultivated in a mixture in five different intercrop ratios: 100:0, 75:25, 50:50, 25,75 and 0, 100 (fennel:alfalfa respectively). Results showed that cropping method showed significant effects on number of umbels of fennel, weight of umbels, dry weight of umbels and biomass of fennel, biomass o alfalfa, LER of fennel and alfalfa and total. Means comparisons showed that treatment of 75:25 (alfalfa:fennel) was the highest amount of biomass (with LER= 1.32).
