Simulating Impact of Impatient Users on Database Server Performance

Abstract:Database server is the major part of information systems. In this paper, we investigate the behaviour of impatient users in the server performance parameters with modelling database system. We use multiclass queuing network for this simulation. The user can behave impatiently in the form of optional cancellation or cancellation forced by the system. By analysing the simulation results, we indicated that with efficient user interface design that informs users sufficiently we can prevent performance losses due to the cancellation of impatient users. Considering a suitable cancellation time, will guarantee a constant response time for the system and will increase the system throughput and reduces the costs.
