Abstract :
Abstract:When it comes to identification from similar products and sorting, transfer, movement, packaging and fragility, characterizing and telling the properties of agricultural products is of high importance. Physical properties such as dimension, mass, density and surface area play significant roles in sorting. This research has been done in Agricultural Department of Bu-Ali Sina University in the period of 2010-2011. Morphological properties of two genotypes of walnut available in Hamedanʹs Toyserkan have been measured in this paper. According to the measures, the average weight of Hard Shell genotypeʹs Walnuts is 10.91 gram, and for the Thin Shellʹs Walnut is 11.99 gram in which the weight in each case has got a direct relationship to the walnutsʹ diameter, length and width and thereʹs a significant difference between them. Also, thereʹs a significant difference between the Thin Shellʹs nutmeat weighting 7.48 gram and the Hard Shell genotype with average weight of 6.17. According to the measures, thereʹs a reverse relationship between the shellʹs thickness and content of nutmeat in both of the genotypes. Also, thereʹs a significant difference in sphericity and surface area of the walnuts. Based on the experiments, thereʹs no significant difference between the Hard Shell genotypeʹs mass static friction angle and the other surfaces, but thereʹs a significant difference between the Thin Shell and the other surfaces. As a result, regarding the measurements, Thin Shell genotype is potentially preferred by the customers due to its big nutmeat and easily applied in walnut breaker machine.
