Title: The Relationship Between Studentsʹʹ Spiritual Intelligence And Type Of Religious Identification

ABSTRCT: This study was carried out on the students of Mohaghegh Ardabili University aimed at examining the relationship between spiritual intelligence and religious identification. Research method was of descriptive-correlative type. Statistical population of the study was composed of an approximate number of 8000 students studying the spring semester at Mohaghegh Ardabili University educational year 2009-2010. Sampling method was multistage clustering. Regarding ? = .05 and based on Krejcie-Morgan table as well as the sampling method, the sample size was selected as 419 students. Data was collected using Kingʹs 24-item spiritual intelligence self-report inventory with reliability of ? = .87 and Kraskianʹs 38-item religious identity inventory with reliability of ?=0.84. The collected data was reported in terms of descriptive statistics report indices and analyzed using Pearson product-moment test. Based on the results of the study, there is positive and significant correlation between spiritual intelligence and religious identity achievement of male and female students. But no significant correlation was found between spiritual intelligence and religious identity foreclosure of male students. In contrary, there was a negative and significant correlation between spiritual intelligence and religious identity foreclosure of female students. There was no significant relationship between spiritual intelligence and religious identity diffusion of both genders.
