Abstract :
ABSTRACT: The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between the coping strategies of cognitive emotion regulation and perceived social support in MS patients.this study is a correlative one. A sample of 150 impaired multiple sclerosis patients in Tehran city (Iran) were randomly selected. The materials used in this study consisted of Cognitive Emotion Regulation Strategies (CERQ) Questionnaire and test of Zimet Perceived Social Support. The Data were analyzed using correlation coefficient and stepwise regression analysis.The findings showed that there is a significant positive correlation between the perceived social support and the sub-scales of the refocusing on program and positive reevaluation and there is a significant negative correlation between the perceived social support and self blame ,catastrophising and other blaming (p < 0/01) . Also there was no significant correlation between the perceived social support and acceptance, rumination, positive refocusing and perspective-taking (p > 0/05). Based on the results, the two strategies of catastrophising and positive re-evaluation are the significant predictors for the perceived social support variable and other strategies of cognitive emotion regulation are not significant predictors for the perceived social support variable.
