Abstract
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between leadership styles of coaches with coaching and coaching efficacy among elite Iranian judokas. athletes (n=162) from 10 judo teams completed demographic questionnaire, coaching efficacy scale (ces) and the perceived version of the leadership scale for sport (LSS). The questionnaires were administered in the second half-season. As far as coaching behaviors was concerned, coaches exhibited higher training and instruction and lower autocratic behavior. The comparison of coaching efficacy revealed higher motivating athletes and lower character building. There was a positive and significant relationship between leadership styles of coaches with coaching efficacy. Overall, our findings support the important role of coaching behaviors in determination of coaching efficacy in elite iranian judokas.
