Abstract :
Leg muscle and liver samples of 25 coypu specimen were used for analyses of heavy metal content. Total contents of elements were analyzed by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) and electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS). The content of arsenic was analyzed by hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometry (HGAAS).
Mean values and standard deviations of the contents of arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), selenium (Se) and iron (Fe) were calculated. The amounts of Fe and Se were in physiological range. As, Cd and Pb were detectable in small amounts in coypu meat and liver. If nutria meat is served once a weak, consumption for adult persons is tolerable. For children the meat and liver of coypu have to be free of contaminations.
