Abstract :
This study was conducted to determine nutrient contents which are one of most significant factors
influencing quality of runner plants of strawberry cultivars (Aromas, Camarosa, Sweet Charlie and Selva) produced
under various growing conditions; namely, open field, low plastic tunnel and high plastic tunnel. Accordingly,
nutrient contents of Aromas, Camarosa, Sweet Charlie and Selva cultivars under these growing conditions were
ascertained. In the present study, nitrogen (%0.59), calcium (%0.76), magnesium (%0.71), sodium(%3.15) and iron
(%0.24) contents of runner plants under open field, one of growing conditions were higher compared to other
growing conditions. Higher phosphorus (%0.36) and zinc (28.38 ppm) contents for runner plants obtained in high
plastic tunnel were determined. Nutrient contents according to cultivars were found at different ratios. In Camarosa
cv., higher iron (%0.18) content was identified in comparison with other cultivars. In Selva cv., phosphorus (%0.36),
manganese (233.49 ppm) and zinc (30.13 ppm) contents were determined to be higher compared with other cultivars.
In Sweet Charlie cv., no significant difference in terms of nutrient contents was observed. It was concluded that
protected cultivation had a partially positive influence on nutrient contents important in terms of quality of runner
plants.
