Abstract
This true-experimental study investigated whether teachersʹ recasts are effective in promoting studentsʹ oral performance. The performance of sixty students within two groups from intermediate level was examined in this research. Experimental group received treatment while control group received placebo. The study found that in L2 instruction through which there were recasting learnersʹ problematic utterance by the teacher, there were success in promoting learnersʹ oral performance. The statistical results have revealed that recasting led to the mastery of oral performance. It has been reflected in smaller number of error free T-units within total number of T-units and greater number of words per narration in a limited time in post-test. Therefore our hypothesis that teacherʹs recasts have positive effect on learnersʹ oral performance is confirmed.
