Abstract :
Carbon nanostructured containing iron and cobalt catalysts were grown on Si substrate by microwave plasma chemical vapor deposition (MPCVD) method. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) observations show that the films deposited on Si substrates consisted of densely populated hexagonal crystalline rods. X-ray fluorescence microscopy (XRFM) analyses show the formation of iron and cobalt aluminide. X-ray diffraction experiments show that the Carbon nanostructured consisted of crystalline phase. Comparison with those prepared without deposition method show that there are no main X-ray diffraction peaks with amorphous nature. Surface study showed that the carbon nanostructred containing iron deposited at 800 °C (Fe/CTC-800) is of higher surface area value and consequently give higher catalytic activity towards hydroconversion of heavy residue.
