Groups with many subnormal subgroups

A generalization of groups with all subgroups subnormal is studied. In particular, we prove that a group G with a finite subgroup F such that every subgroup containing F is subnormal of bounded defect, is finite-by-(nilpotent of bounded class) provided it is either locally nilpotent or periodic with π(G) finite.
