Abstract :
A Sm(II)-mediated, asymmetric, intermolecular ketyl-olefin addition employing (alpha),(beta)-unsaturated esters linked to resin through an ephedrine ʹchiral linkʹ has been applied in a direct ʹasymmetric catch-releaseʹ approach to (gamma)-butyrolactones.
