Abstract :
The study of elemental and radionuclide composition of soil samples collected near the location of an accident (Siberian Chemical Plant) was carried out. The content of plutonium isotopes in the soil samples was estimated. An investigation of the spatial distribution of alpha-emitters in samples revealed a significant inhomogeneity. This phenomenon was connected to the presence of ‘hot particles’ in these samples. ‘Hot particles’ were picked out from soil samples and the radionuclide composition was determined.
