Abstract :
The annual Brisbane Symposium on Social Identity is a free 1-day conference, designed to bring together people who are involved in research in the areas of social identity, group processes and intergroup relations. It is a forum for the exchange of ideas, the discussion of theoretical and conceptual issues, presentation of current research, and the establishment and strengthening of formal research connections in this field. There are 8 papers acting as foci for discussion, chosen to reflect the diversity and breadth of social identity research. Inaugurated in 1992, this is the fourteenth gathering in Brisbane of researchers working within a broad social identity perspective, and this year the symposium is again sponsored by the Centre for Research on Group Processes. In addition to four Australian speakers, we are fortunate to have the participation of the following international guests: Constantine Sedikides (University of Southampton, UK), Tendayi Viki (University of Kent, UK), Thomas Morton (University of Exeter, UK), and James Cameron (St Mary’s University, Canada).
