Abstract :
This article provides a brief summary of the seven articles in this special issue
through the lens of the concept of caring reflexivity. In joining ‘caring’ and
‘reflexivity’, we deepen the conversation about what constitutes reflexivity,
encouraging an explicit focus on the relational. Revisiting the first article, we
argue that relationships – with all their challenges and mysteries – must be central
to ethical and credible research. Thus, we highlight the ways these authors grapple
with research relationships. However, not only do they grapple with them, they
also take delight in and worry about their ongoing interactions. The authors smile
and laugh with their participants and gently critique themselves as fallible
individuals seeking to learn about others’ experiences.
