The Role of Interpersonal Relationships in Student Motivation: Introduction to the Special Issue

The past decade has seen a tremendous surge of research interest in potential associations among studentsʹ interpersonal relationships and their academic motivation, behaviors, and achievement. At this time, synthesis of this literature is limited by the broad variety of theoretical frames, operational definitions, and methods used to study what has been termed social motivation. The goal of this special issue is to illustrate that range while highlighting the need for further research.
