On the elements of prime power order in image Original Research Article

Using Faltingsʹ theorem on the Mordell conjecture, we prove that for any prime pgreater-or-equal, slanted5 and integer ngreater-or-equal, slanted2, the cyclotomic symbols {a,Φn(a)} do not form a subgroup of image. This partially confirms a conjecture of Browkin.
