Abstract :
The photostability of triadimefon in aqueous medium when irradiated with UV-light λ ≥ 290 nm in the presence of humic and fulvic acids (isolated from soil) and in their absence is reported. The degradation followed approximately first order kinetics. Irradiation (X ? 290 nm) in water resulted in 87% degradation of the chemical, whereas substrate transformation in the presence of humic acid and fulvic acid was 89.7% and 91.6% respectively. Six main photoproducts were identified by GC and GC-MS analysis. 4-Chlorophenol and dechlorinated triadimefon were identified in all the three experiments.
