Abstract :
The chemical decomposition test of PCBs by the BCD process using an apparatus consisting of a 300ml three necks flask and a condenser was conducted. Higher chlorinated biphenyls are converted to lower chlorinated compounds. It requires 2 to 3 hours for the PCBs concentration to reach less than 1ppm. Decomposition rate of 99.999% is readily achieved and no dioxins are produced during the reaction.
