Abstract :
Hydrolysis of 10 phenylthio-carboxylates in water were observed. The effects of temperature and pH were determined. It was shown that acid-catalyzed and neutral hydrolysis of phenylthio-carboxylates were too slow to be important under environmental conditions. However, base-catalyzed hydrolysis is fast enough to be a competitive degradation pathway in the environment.
