Abstract :
A new regenerative method for cleaning waste incineration flue gases from organic trace contaminants was developed. PCDD/F present in a fraction (130 m3/h) of the flue gas from a HWI were adsorbed on the surface of Wessalith DAY, a hydrophobic zeolite. By this procedure, the stipulated PCDD/F emission limit of 0.1 ng TE/m3 was met over a operation period of 20 000 hours. To remove the adsorbed contaminants, the adsorbent was treated with ozone in situ. This oxidative treatment led to significant decontamination of the zeolite. Moreover, the adsorption capability of the zeolite was regenerated in part.
