Abstract
The capability of soil components (montmorillonite, humic acids, resting and dead cells of Arthrobacter sp. LII isolated from soil) to immobilize Cd and the effects of environmental factor changes (pH temperature, soil solution composition, time) on its retention in vitro and under soil conditions were studied. Among tested soil elements, montmorillonite immobilized the lowest amount of Cd from the liquid but metal retention was at least affected by changes of environmental factors. Dead bacterial cells immobilized the largest amount of Cd.
