Abstract
The concentrations of PCDD/Fs in sediment, soil, fish and shrimp samples from a Japanese freshwater lake area were measured. 2,3,7,8-Substituted compounds were separated using two GC stationary phases. According to the isomeric examination of TCDDs and TCDFs, the herbicide CNP was suggested to be one of the sources of PCDD/Fs in this area and the presence of another source was also suggested. The isomer patterns for fish and shrimp samples were different from those for sediment samples. Habitat or trophic level was suggested to be more important in determining the PCDD/F concentrations in fish and shrimp than their lipid contents.
