Abstract :
A critical review of the receptor model based on Target Transformation Factor Analysis is presented. A new way of scaling the data set and evaluating the number of independent sources is proposed. The model applied to particulate matter samples collected at a receptor site in the Milan city-center leads to the identification of five sources contributing to air pollution.
