Fly ash CRM 490: A new bcr certified reference material for PCDD/PCDF analysis

The preparation, homogeneity and stability of a fly ash reference material and the subsequent certification of the mass fraction of five polychlorodibenzo-p-dioxins and seven polychlorodibenzofurans are described. The material, BCR CRM 490, is intended for use in the method validation and quality control for congener-specific determination of dioxins. The certification was based on an interlaboratory study. A summary of the analytical techniques used and the quality control guidelines followed is presented, together with the evaluation of the results.
