Abstract :
The most important deposition mechanisms of inhaled aerosols are impaction, sedimentation and diffusion. If medical sprays are nebulized by a jet high electric charges can be observed. In this case electric deposition can gain high importance. The electric chargeof such aerosols depends on many factors (e.g. the form and material of the jet, the material of the spray and many others) and cannot be calculated directly. Avoiding CFCs as propellent gases in medical aerosols makes such nebulizing techniques necessary. The high charge of an aerosol does not allow the particles to reach the deep regions of the respiratory system where they are needed. Therefore a measuring method is introduced to observe charge and size distribution simultaneously.
