Abstract :
The concept of an aerodynamic particle concentrator is presented on the basis of a cascade of aerodynamic lenses followed by a virtual impactor. The performance of the system was analyzed by numerical simulation. Flow fields were solved in an Eulerian grid system, and particle trajectories were calculated by the Lagrangian method. It is shown by the simulation that the system concentrates poly-disperse sub-micron particles as small as 0.3 μm and achieves concentration factors of 100 at atmospheric pressure.
