A comparison of the former soviet union dust sampler to the u.s.a. high-volume (TSP) sampler

The particulate collection efficiency of the Former Soviet Union airborne dust sampler was assessed by operating it in parallel with the standard U.S. high-volume (TSP) sampler at University of Washington campus in Seattle, Washington. The overall collection efficiencies of the two samplers were compared. At the test site, the Former Soviet Union sampler underestimated the concentration of urban airborne particulate matter by a factor of three as measured by the colocated U.S. TSP sampler.
