Abstract
The merits of using sodar data to derive air pollution meteorological parameters of mixing heights, stability class and dispersion parameters are discussed in comparison with the merits of using conventional data realized from tower and radiosonde measurements. Sodar studies of the mixing heights at different topographical locations in India are presented to reveal the topographical and climatological influence on the mixing depths, and stress the need to use sodar derived site-specific data for real-time dispersion modeling and EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) studies.
