Abstract
An upper limit for the second-order gas-phase rate coefficient for the reaction between ClNO2 and water vapour was determined to be 5×10-23 cm3 molecule-1 s-1 at 295±1 K. The liquid-phase reaction between dissolved N2O5 and chloride in synthetic sea salt droplets was investigated at ppb concentrations of N2O5 in the gas phase, by sampling ClNO2(g) and HCl(g) with diffusion denuders. The fractional yield of ClNO2 from N2O5 was 0.64±0.15 at 295±1 K over the relative humidity range between 75 and 95%, thus confirming earlier results.
