Abstract
During a complete year (April 1996–April 1997) impactor measurements were performed in the remote continental region of Lake Baikal/Siberia and were analysed by single-particles analysis to determine the content of primary biological aerosol particles. The results show an amount of 20% of the number concentration and almost 30% of the volume concentration that were biological, with no seasonal variation. Distinct differences were seen looking at the giant particles (r>2 μm), where strong phenological variations were seen within the size distributions.
