Artificial insemination and pregnancy diagnosis in the Bactrian camel (Camelus bactrianus)

Research undertaken at Gansu Agricultural University on the reproductive performance of the Bactrian camel, on the characteristics and components of semen, on freezing of semen using different extenders, on the performance of semen after thawing, and on the development of an artificial insemination scheme is reported. Encouraging results have been obtained but further research is required before the techniques can be fully controlled and exploited.
