Abstract
Distribution of plant species in different habitats along a west–east transect across Bahrain Island was studied. Total cover, relative cover, life-form spectrum, and importance values for the dominant species were determined. Possible relationships between species distribution and some environmental factors are discussed. The study shows species distribution to be similar to that found in the corresponding habitats in the rest of the Arabian Peninsula. Species with the highest percentage of occurrence wereZygophyllum qatarense, Helianthemum kahiricumandPanicum turgidum.
