Abstract
Water samples collected at different stages of a demineralization process were examined after closed loop stripping and analysed by GC–FID and GC–MS. The results showed a contamination arising from the contact with ion-exchange resins. The quantity and the type of pollutants were different depending upon the resin bed, cationic or anionic exchanger, but all the examined samples exceeded the limits set according to the normative for the human consumption water for various classes of compounds: Alkylparaffins, alkylbenzenes, alkyltoluenes, aromatic chloro-, and bromoderivatives.
