Protein analysis as a simple method for the quantitative assessment of sewage sludge disintegration

Three different parameters were tested for the description of the efficiency of sewage sludge disintegration. Two parameters were based on COD-analysis, the third parameter was the protein content. These parameters were correlated to the gas yield during anaerobic treatment after disintegration. The protein content showed the best correlation with the gas yield and, additionally, is the simplest and cheapest one of the methods compared.
