Abstract
Develops the tabu search meta-heuristic and successfully demonstrates the method on numerous variations of three different problems to provide solutions to the system reliability optimization problem of redundancy allocation. Overview of the redundancy allocation problem; Comparison of the method with integer programming and genetic algorithm solutions; Benefits of tabu search for solving systems-related problems.
